2. “Cosmic turbulence and Magnetic fields: physics of baryonic matter across time and scales”, Sept. 29 to Oct. 3, 2025, Cargèse, France

—————————————————————————————-

We are pleased to announce the 3rd edition of the multi-disciplinary MIST meeting: “Cosmic turbulence and Magnetic fields: physics of baryonic matter across time and scales” to be held from September 29 to October 3, 2025 in Cargèse (France).

The goal of the meeting is to facilitate cross-pollination of research in fields of astrophysics  and physics that are usually discussed separately. We expect the conference to open new kinds of collaborations for the benefit of the young generations.

Registration and abstract submission are opened on https://mist2025.sciencesconf.org

Please, circulate this announcement among your colleagues, post-docs and students.

3. “At the Galactic center” – 1st July 2025 14h-18h30 – Journées SF2A at Toulouse, France

—————————————————————————————-

We organize a session (S19) entitled “At the Galactic center” at the Journées SF2A 2025 in Toulouse on 1st July: https://journees.sf2a.eu/ateliers/s19/

This workshop covers themes that are present in various Actions Thématiques (AT-PEM, CG, PCMI, PS). It will provide an opportunity for these communities to meet and discuss their observations, results and methods of analysis. The proposed workshop will also provide a comprehensive overview of our current knowledge of the Galactic centre for those who are not already familiar with this complex region.

SOC: Maïca Clavel, Katia Ferrière, Arianna Foschi, Anne-Laure Melchior, Pierre-Olivier Petrucci

You can submit an abstract until 25th April and registrations are open until 10th June (early bird until 20th May).

5. Unlocking ALMA’s potential with Focal Plane Arrays: A community workshop – September 2-4 2025, Bonn, Germany

—————————————————————————————-

Bonn, MPIfR September 2-4. 2025

https://indico.mpifr-bonn.mpg.de/e/ALMA-FPA

Abstract submission deadline:  June 2nd

ALMA is exploring key upgrades to enhance its sensitivity, resolution, and imaging capabilities, focusing on transformative advancements that will unlock its full scientific potential. As part of an ongoing ESO ALMA development study aimed at advancing ALMA’s capabilities, the community workshop “Unlocking ALMA’s Potential with Focal Plane Arrays” will take place on September 2 – 4, 2025, at MPIfR, Bonn.

This event will explore the scientific drivers and technological innovations behind focal plane arrays (FPAs) – a breakthrough that could significantly expand ALMA’s field of view and mapping speed. This conference welcomes experts from all fields of astrophysics who are interested in shaping the scientific priorities for the next phase of ALMA, driven by the transformative capabilities enabled by the development of focal plane arrays (FPAs).
