1. Junior Professorship (CPJ) in Artificial Intelligence for Galactic and Solar System Astrophysics at the institut UTINAM (Besançon)

—————————————————————————————-

The Université Marie et Louis Pasteur invites applications for a Junior Professorship position (CPJ) in the field of Artificial Intelligence applied to Galactic and/or Solar System Astrophysics. This unique fast-track position is designed for researchers with exceptional potential, offering a direct path to a permanent Full Professorship upon successful review after 4 years. Within the AI-GALILEO project, the candidate will develop cutting-edge astrophysical research, leveraging state-of-the-art artificial intelligence techniques to revolutionize the analysis of vast astronomical datasets. This interdisciplinary role will contribute to advancing our understanding of fundamental astrophysical phenomena, such as solar system formation, stellar populations, and the physics and chemistry of the interstellar medium.

Application Instructions: As the position is funded at the national level, applications should be submitted exclusively via the national Odysee portal: https://odyssee.enseignementsup-recherche.gouv.fr. Please note that the portal can be switched to English.

Applications can be submitted from May 15th, 2025, to June 12th, 16:00 (Paris time).

2. Workshop on Cosmology Beyond the Analytic Lamppost, 16 June – 4 July 2025, Paris Saclay, France

—————————————————————————————-

The three-week program ‟Cosmology Beyond the Analytic Lamppost” will take place at the Institut Pascal, Saclay, France, from 16th June to 4th Jul 2025.

The aim of the program is to bring together researchers using different methods in cosmology that go beyond conventional perturbation theory. Key-questions to be addressed are:

  • How to extract correlation functions from inflationary mechanisms that are not captured by traditional perturbative approaches?
  • How to go beyond n-point correlators and perform an optimal field-level inference of cosmological parameters including primordial non-Gaussianity?
  • How to model the tail of the probability distribution and characterise rare events such as the formation of primordial black holes?
  • How to characterise the space of consistent field theories in cosmology and what constraints this places on inflationary phenomenology?

The first week will feature lectures and hands-on tutorials, notably aimed at PhD students and newcomers to the field, providing a pedagogical introduction to the key open problems and how to use the numerical tools currently available. The second and third weeks will be of worskhop type, with a light schedule of talks and time for discussion and collaboration.

Confirmed participants include Ana Achucarro, Pierre Auclair, Angelo Caravano, Sebastien Cespedes, Thomas Colas, Paolo Creminelli, Jinn-Ouk Gong, Jens Jasche, Denis Karateev, Guilhem Lavaux, Yoann Launay, Enrico Pajer, Gonzalo Palma, Shi Pi, Gui Pimentel, Lucas Pinol, Fabian Schmidt, Zachary Slepian, David Stefanyszyn, Giovanni Tambalo, Anna Tokareva, Koki Tokeshi, Vincent Vennin, Denis Werth, Zhong-Zhi Xianyu.

There is no registration fee. We will provide accommodation and lunches to participants, whose number is hence limited. For further information, please visit: https://indico.ijclab.in2p3.fr/event/11373/

The registration deadline is the 23th of May.

3. The 14th Iberian Gravitational Waves Meeting, 23-25 June 2025, Madrid, Spain

—————————————————————————————-

The Iberian Gravitational Waves Meeting is an international conference organised yearly since 2011 by different members of the Red Temática de Ondas Gravitacionales (REDONGRA). This year it will be hosted at the CIEMAT, in Madrid, Spain. We note that the meeting will be followed by a 1-day workshop on applications of AI to gravitational-wave research, which we will announce separately.

This meeting aims to bring together researchers interested in the development of Gravitational Wave Astronomy, including those from related areas of Astrophysics, multi-messenger Astronomy, Cosmology, Fundamental Physics, Numerical Relativity, Instrumentation and Data analysis. Most importantly, we aim to foster collaboration among these fields.

Registration is now open until 16th June 2025 on the conference webpage: https://agenda.ciemat.es/e/igwm2025. The deadline for abstract submission is 29th May 2025. We welcome abstracts for oral presentations related to the broad field of gravitational-wave astronomy, including the topics mentioned above.

There will be a registration fee of €100 for postdocs and senior scientists, and €60 for PhD students (predoctoral researchers) to cover the meeting’s logistics. We recommend booking accommodation early.
