2. Second call of UPSaclay-STAR-phi Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme
—————————————————————————————-
The Graduate School of Physics at Université Paris-Saclay (France) is opening the second call of its postdoctoral fellowship programme: UPSaclay-STAR-phi, supported by the EU Marie Curie COFUND action.
Through this call, the programme will recruit up to 22 international postdoctoral researchers, for 24-month research projects in one of the 40 laboratories of the Graduate School, at the SOLEIL synchrotron, or at the French National Metrology Lab (LNE). This includes 4 astrophysics laboratories: the Department of Astrophysics (DAp) of CEA Paris-Saclay, the Institut d’Astrophysique Spatiale (IAS), the Laboratoire Atmosphères et Observations Spatiales (LATMOS) and the Laboratoire de Physique des Plasmas (LPP).
– Application deadline: July 15th, 2026.
– Expected start of fellowships: early 2027 (flexible).
Applicants will propose their own research project aligned with the School’s wide-ranging fields, from fundamental to applied physics.
Notice that the postdoctoral candidate must not have been based in France for more than 12 months, during the past 3 years.

—————————————————————————————-
We are pleased to announce the workshop:
“Probing the Circumstellar and Interstellar Medium with Transients and Multi-Wavelength Observations”
or
Dates: 26-29 October 2026
Location: Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan
This workshop will bring together researchers working on transients (SNe, GRBs, FRBs) and galaxy evolution
to explore the multi-scale structure of baryonic matter, from circumstellar environments to the intergalactic medium.
Topics will include:
- Multi-wavelength observations (JWST, ALMA, NOEMA, PFS, SKA)
- CSM studies with early supernova observations
- ISM in GRB host galaxies
- FRB dispersion measures and CGM/IGM
- Quasar spectroscopy and BAL regions
- Dust evolution and feedback
- Toward a unified multi-scale framework (CSM to CGM/IGM)
Scientific Organizing Committee (SOC)
- Denis Burgarella (co-chair, France)
- Akio Inoue (co-chair, Japan)
- Maria Dainotti (Japan)
- Keiichi Maeda (Japan)
- Benjamin Schneider (France)
- Nathalie Ysard (France)
The workshop will include dedicated discussion sessions to foster collaboration, particularly between Japanese and French teams.
